Grille, Jade

Drawn from the fan-topped iron grilles still fixed to the windows of older Hong Kong tenement blocks. A half-circle fan of bars, a small diamond at each joint, and thin uprights tying the rows together. We redrew it as a single-weight line so it reads as pattern from across a room and as ironwork up close.

Line patterns show a crooked first strip more than anything else in the range. Hang the first drop against a plumb line, not the corner of the room.

• Colours: Jade green line on pale grey-green
• Match: straight, 52 cm repeat
• Roll: 52 cm × 10 m (20.5 in × 32.8 ft), about 5.2 m² (56 sq ft) before pattern matching
• Paper: non-woven base, printed with water-based pigment inks, matt finish
• Hanging: paste the wall; strips come off dry in one piece when you redecorate
• Cleaning: wipeable, not scrubbable
• Printed to order and dispatched within 5 to 7 business days; approx. 0.9 kg per roll, shipped in a card tube
